For decades, Maddox Drugs has been compounding specialized medications to fit the needs of our community. We work closely with your provider to create personalized compounded medications specifically prepared to meet each individual patient's needs. With specially trained pharmacists and technicians, we are able to make personalized formulations for you and even your pets.

Currently, we are the only compounding pharmacy in Stephens and Franklin County, and we are continuing to improve! We currently provide non-sterile compounded products in many dosage forms. To comply with new state regulations for pharmacy compounding and maintain our high standards for quality, we completed the construction of our new state of the art USP 800 non-sterile clean room.

What does "compounding" mean?

Compounding refers to the process of mixing or making specially formulated medications: such as personalized topical products, custom strengths of oral medications not normally available, and liquid dosage forms.

What kinds of medications can be compounded?

Compounded products are medications that are not normally available or aren’t made at the required dose. The most common types of medications we compound are:

  • Personalized hormone creams and orally dissolving tablets for both men and women
  • Topical products for arthritis, sports injury, and joint pain relief
  • Custom forms of common medications for your pets
  • GI and rectal treatments
  • Podiatry and diabetic foot creams
  • Liquid formulations of medications for children or others with trouble swallowing pills
  • Specialized doses and hard to find products

How long does it take to fill a compounded medication?

Since each prescription is made specifically for an individual patient it can take time to prepare these special medications. We ask that you give us a call after your doctor prescribes a compounded product to let us know when you need it filled. After that, give us 24 hours to have the product ready for pick up.

Our compounding lab is open Monday - Friday and closed on the weekends.

For refills on compounded products, please request refills 3 days before you run out to make sure we have an updated prescription from your provider and time to prepare your medication.

Are compounded products covered by Insurance?

We do not bill compounded medications to insurance companies. Each compound may have a different price based on its individualized nature. We offer cost savings for prescriptions purchased in bulk or in 90-day supplies. Due to the custom products and storage regulations some compounded prescriptions have short stability or expiration dates and cannot be filled for an extended period.

Feel free to ask us about the cost and storage requirements when you call and request your medication.
